VACCINES
An updated COVID vaccine, with activity against newer variants, has been available since the Fall of 2024. The COVID Vaccine is recommended for all adults, including those vaccinated with earlier versions. We strongly recommend that all of our patients get vaccinated.
Updated vaccines are effective at preventing serious illness and hospitalization. Side effects have been predictable and minor.
In line with guidance from the CDC, there is no longer a mandatory statewide masking order in Maryland for people who have been vaccinated. In view of our vulnerable geriatric patients, masks are still required in our office for all patients and for all staff during patient contacts. Masks protect both the wearer of the mask and people surrounding the wearer from infection from asymptomatic contacts.
